Reviews of this property
The apartment was clean. The apartment is indeed close (6 people), but we were all the time on the road and it is sufficient to stay. The clatter of the trains on the Manhattan Bridge did not bother us, though we slept with the windows open. New York happens to be a noisy city. Hot water for showers was always available. Meanwhile, there are two apartment keys. Definitely was living in Chinatown advantageous because you could stock up with drinks in the surrounding supermarkets. The subway was easily accessible.
NYC is always fantastic, the apartment was however not. It was either freezing cold or very warm. It wasn't possible to adjust the heat. 2 out of 6 days there was no hot water at all. No hot water = no shower! Several of the wals was not painted and the sofa was compleatly warren out. Full of holes. The entertains and stears is very dirty and the backyard is best described as slum, with thousands of smoked cigarettes laying among other waste. The worst was however all the bird droppings on old air-conditions hanging from the windows in the backyard . We are talking of years without cleaning. 40 ~ 60 cm high "mountains" of bird droppings. And then on top of that the apartment is approx. 50 meters from Manhattan brigde, with a train passing every 2 minutes, 24/7. You can not belive the noise! Manhattan John (Mike) is a nice guy, but this apartment should newer have been rented out to tourists.
The apartment is equipped the necessary kitchen utensils and new floor covering / interior paint is consistent with renovation, appearance inside clean and tidy. The mattresses must be very old and you hear the springs every time you move in bed. Not used to living in the city the the frequent trains travelling less than a block away on the bridge made sleeping even more difficult. TV reception is poor with an indoor aerial only. Pipes the run from floor to ceiling rattle at times (warm at times ?noise when heating turned on also associated with hissing sound in kitchen). Only one key very difficult with 5 people. Takes a long time to get hot water through the pipes for washing up / shower. (Do not know if any laundry facilities nearby). Need to be fit to carry suitcases up 3 steep flights of stairs.

We'd again a great time in NYC. The appartment was clean and we'd everything we need and most important: The bed was very comfortable. Around the appartment were a lot bars, but it was very quiet in the house and the appartment. It's in China town, and you can walk through to Little Italy and Soho, even to 5th Av if you like to discover the city by walking like we do. There is a subway station nearby, so you can reach all the interesting places in Manhattan either by foot or with the sub.
The woman who gave us the keys and showed us the appartment was very friendly and there was no need for a further contact during our time in NYC, because we'd nothing to complain. I can absolutely recommend this appartment.
We spent almost 3 weeks in NYC and the apartment we stayed at was fantastic.
it is a pretty big new studio,it's super nice, cozy and really really comfortable.
it is definetely well located : it is close to Midtown (the heart of the city) and even closer to a subway station. right across the street there are 2 supermarkets, many restaurants, pizza places, pubs and even a mani and pedi place!! second avenue is filled with good energy and it is impossible to count all the cafes, shops, supermarkets and restaurants . it is important to consider that it is also very safe, let me give you just a little example: two seconds away from the apartment there are the UNITED NATIONS!! plus the owner is really nice! give it a try :)
The room was very nice and as described by John. All the appartment was clean and the other guests were very friendly.
It was a lovely stay in little Italy, close to almost everything and not even two minutes from chinatown (amazing place to find very good fruit and very good little restaurants).
If I come back in New-York I will probably contact the host again !
Thank you !
Me and my two friends were super happy to stay at this apartment. The location was great with the subway almost outside the door. Mike was nice and made us feel at home. We would definately recommend this place if you want to go to New York. :-)
Nice, clean appartment in China Town. Nex time in New York I know where to stay.
First of all: Mike, the host, who also lives there is very nice and helpful.
The apartment is situated in the lower east side, only a 2 min. walk from a subway station, that takes you to Central Park in about 20min.
The only thing I have to say to people who think about staying here: If you are two persons travelling with luggage, make sure you get the big room!!! The smaller one is just way too small!!
Other than that, it's clean. Perfect for a short stay in New York. (In the bigger room)
